ICL, the parent company of ICL Fertilizers, has made even more progress up the internationally respected Bloomberg Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Sustainability Index based on 2018 data and is now the highest ranking amongst fertilizer companies.
The index is the result of Bloomberg analysts collecting and verifying data from more than 11,500 companies in over 80 countries.
The ranking process uses publicly available data, such as ICL's annual Corporate Responsibility, Financial reports. More than 250 parameters are taken into consideration. These include measuring sustainability performance in diverse aspects of environmental impact, Health & Safety, Fair & Diverse Employment, Ethics and Corporate Governance.
The latest Bloomberg Index shows that ICL has risen up significantly through the rankings. ICL's score has increased again. This time we scored 67, compared to 60 and 52 for 2017 and 2016, respectively. But there’s more good news: in our new position we rank above all other international fertilizer companies. Also, we are the highest scoring among all Israeli companies ranked by Bloomberg for the second year in a row.
This recognition of performance is gratifying. It is evidence of not just doing good work but of good working practice. But the target is to do even better.
Through 2019, ICL increased transparency and performance regarding fair and diverse employment practices; set new KPIs for increasing gender equality through the company's workforce and management; set new corporate-wide air emission reduction targets and is acting for their achievement; enhanced sustainable procurement practices and increased transparency on corporate governance.
These efforts and more will hopefully position ICL for an even higher score when the next Bloomberg Index is announced.
